THE WILD ONE
Born at sea in the middle of a storm, William Crockett has always been wild at heart. But when he discovers Mabel Johnson being mistreated by her stepfather, he helps her disguise herself as a boy, and they sign on to help aboard ship. When they fall in love, they marry and return home. William tries to be a good husband and father, but soon the call of sailing pulls at him. Returning to sea, he thinks his greatest challenge is being conscripted to a slave ship. But when he comes home to find his wife betrothed to another man, his greatest adventure has just begun.

THE ELDER
David Crockett (the grandfather of Davy Crockett) inherited his mother’s short stature and father’s fiery temper. He also inherited a distrust of people after having spent so many of his formative years without a father present. He has learned to make his own rules and has harsh judgment for those who don’t live up to them. In the wilds of Western Virginia and backwoods of Tennessee, he learns to think in terms of black and white leaving no room for grace in his dogmatic beliefs until only mercy can save all that he loves.

THE FATHER
John Crockett returned from a trip to the First Continental Congress to find his parents and most of his siblings massacred during an Indian uprising. A few short years later he takes part in one of the bloodiest battles the southern states experienced during the American Revolution—the Battle of King’s Mountain. Not even the love of his sweet wife, Rebecca, can keep the nightmares at bay. But the handy ale from the near-by tavern seems to do the trick. And then it owns him, pushing him to do the most regrettable things, including selling his own son, David—named for his murdered father—to pay off debts. The dysfunctional and strained relationship between John and his legendary son can only be healed with God’s intervention.

Abundant blessings!
